On September 21, Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, "challenged" former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, to another televised debate on social media. Trump declined the invitation, saying it was "too late" for the debate to take place.

Harris issued her challenge to Trump on X (formerly Twitter): "I would be happy to participate in a second presidential debate on October 23rd. I hope Trump will join me."
