EU Commission Announces Second Batch of Regulators Joining its Blockchain Sandbox Initiative
ChainCatcher reports that the European Commission has announced a second batch of regulators participating in its blockchain sandbox initiative. The European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) recently stated that 41 authorities and regulatory bodies from 22 countries in the EU and the European Economic Area have joined the initiative.
Participating authorities include those from the following countries: France, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Germany, Cyprus, Portugal, Bulgaria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic.
The EU Commission launched EBSI to support use cases involving distributed ledger technology (DLT). The project aims to provide a framework for dialogue between blockchain projects, regulators, and authorities, identifying legal and regulatory barriers to blockchain innovation. This ultimately aims to increase regulatory certainty for decentralized technology solutions like blockchain.
